Listening Section

 

Overview:

• There are 40 questions.
• There are 4 section.
• It will be given +- 30 seconds at the beginning and in the middle of every section to read questions.
• It will be given +- 30 seconds at the end of every sections to check the answers.
• It will be given 10 minutes at the end of the listening sections to transfer the answer to the answer sheet.

 

Types of questions:

• Completing notes, tablles, diagram, maps, sentences, summaries.
• Matching.
• Multiple choices.
• One question with multiple answer.

 

Techniques / skills that need to be developed:

• Reading and listening at the same time.
• Taking notes.

 

Tips and strategies:

• Circle and underline the instructions.
• Listen carefully to the spoken instructions.
• Underline the keywords from the questions.
• Try to predict the answers.
• Try to take as many notes as possible especially in the choice-types of questions.
• When listening to the conversations / talks, be careful with synonyms, self-corrections, and multiple details, singular / plural nouns.
• Don’t write down the answer directly on the answer sheet.
• When transferring the answer to the answer sheet, pay attention to introducing to handwriting, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.

#WritingTask1 – MAP [ the virgin island ]

The two maps below show an island, before and after the construction of some tourist facilities.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main feature, and make comparisons where relevant.

 

The two maps illustrate an island before and after the development of some tourist infrastructures. The most striking feature is that after establishment, there are lots of accommodations in that island.

 

It can be seen that in the unexploited island, there are some trees near the beach area and on the right side of the island before any construction of tourist facilities. In addition, there is beach area on the left side of the island.

 

It is also noticeable that there are so many changes in the island after the improvement of infrastructures for travellers. Firstly, there is swimming area located besides the beach area. Secondly, there are lots of accommodations built on the left and the middle side of the area. The one accommodation is connected to others by footpath. And then, the reception is built in the central of tourist facilities area. Furthermore, the restaurant is on the upper side of the reception and it is connected to each other by vehicle track. In addition, in the lower area of the island, there is a pier that is built docking the boats. The last, there is not only the facilities that increased after the construction, but also the number of trees rose too.

 

To sum up, the establishment of facilities for tourist in virgin island is significant, thus there are so many infrastructures in that island after the construction.
